Missed out on Ed Sheeran tickets? He’s just added more UK dates

Anyone fancy seeing Ed Sheeran live? Missed out on tickets for his 2018 shows when they were first released? Well, it’s worth mentioning that he’s announced new dates for his UK tour next year.

The new gigs will take place in Manchester, Glasgow, Newcastle and Cardiff after his existing dates sold out, obviously.

Tickets for the new dates are on sale right now here.

The new shows are as follows:

Sunday, May 27 – Manchester Etihad Stadium

Sunday, June 3 – Glasgow Hampden Park

Sunday, June 10 – Newcastle St James’ Park

Thursday, June 21 – Cardiff Principality Stadium

For anybody going to see Ed in the UK during his stadium tour, you may need to be a little more prepared than usual.

Strict new rules are in place, requiring attendees to bring a total of four forms of identification, as Ed attempts to fight back against touts.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Ed’s single ‘Shape of You’ broke the record for the UK’s most streamed track of all time.

It overtook Drake’s ‘One Dance’ with 184 million streams since its release in January, according to the Official Charts Company.

‘Shape of You’ also became the best-selling song of the year so far, followed by Ed’s ‘Castle on the Hill’ in second place, and then by ‘Despacito’ by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber in third.

With ‘Galway Girl’ in fourth place, Ed was very close to claiming all three top spots.

Is a Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran collaboration incoming?

It looks like a Rita Ora and Ed Sheeran collaboration could be on the cards.

Fans have been speculating the pair are working on new music together after Rita Ora uploaded video of her an Ed listening to an unknown song before looking to each other and smiling.

Fans were quick to speculate what the pair are up to, commenting ‘aaaaa what’s happening?’, ‘can not wait for this song’, ‘what’s coming?’ and ‘what’s going on, dis is cute’.

It’s not the first the pair have collaborated. Ed wrote Rita a song called ‘Us’ in 2015 but it never got released.

Hopefully this time we get to hear what the pair get up to in the studio!

This week, Ed shared the video for his latest single ‘Galway Girl’.

Shot in Galway Girl on Ireland’s West coast this month the video features actress Saoirse Ronan.

The video is shot from Ed’s perspective as he walks off on stage and ends up in a rowdy pub before taking to the streets with Saoirse.

Ed Sheeran’s ÷ is the third fastest-selling UK album ever with ALL SIXTEEN songs in the singles top 20

There’s no stopping the phenomenon that is Ed Sheeran.

The singer-songwriter has utterly dominated both the singles and albums charts, breaking several records and – believe it or not – taking 16 positions in the top 20 singles of the week.

That’s right… every single song – 16 of them – from his new album ÷ made the top 20!

This is a first in chart history – no artist has come close to achieving it before.

The top five of the UK singles chart are all Sheeran in a ruthless clean sweep. ‘Shape of You’ is at number one, followed by ‘Galway Girl’, ‘Castle on the Hill’, ‘Perfect’ and ‘New Man’. This is, you guessed it, also another chart first.

Another record? Sheeran has become the artist with the most top ten singles from one album. Not only does he hold nine of the top ten this week, but ‘How Would You Feel (Paean)’ (which is number 11) previously charted inside the top ten – which means ÷ has a total of ten top ten singles.

The dominance doesn’t stop there.

In the UK albums chart, ÷ is top after shifting 672,000 copies, the fastest-selling by a male solo artist ever and the third fastest-selling overall in the first seven days – beaten only by Adele’s 25 (800,000) and Oasis’s Be Here Now (696,000).

In fact, Sheeran’s album has sold more than the rest of the top 500 combined.

“Wow, what a phenomenal week!” the singer said. “To every person who’s bought the album, thank you. I’m buzzing!”

Sheeran’s previous albums x and + are fourth and fifth respectively in this week’s albums chart.

Rag’n’Bone Man is second with Human, while Stormzy’s Gang Signs & Prayer is third.
